There is absolutely no doubt that this has to become a feature in the game. This is a great idea that needs to be implemented A.S.A.P

Maybe the downside would be like everytime your name is changed you must permanently lose one character slot.
Might be a bit harsh but is equivalent to some RL $

*sorry if this was mentioned 60 pages is a lil to much to read*
the only problem i would see with this is scamming.
Example
Some guy scams you. you go to put the name into friends. tada name does not exist.
but in most cases its your own fault for getting scammed. just saying if u do get scammed it could be harder to report the person.

A good idea, maybe a new way to swink gold and Skill points? Like 100g plus 1 or 2 Skils points to change a feature

I named a female rit "Osiris" late at night (when I was a bit dull in the mind) and then realized the next day when I got to unwaking waters that Isis is the godess and Osris is her husband (ie. i named a girl, a guy)

I've already written in to support asking for a name change and this is the same response I got. Although it's a great idea and I eagerly await to see it applied to the game, I fear they may pull a WoW on us (making us pay to change a characters name). I have 3 characters in perticular that i named 3 years ago and now i regret their names. (la primo sephiroth? lol.. ) And i'm not about to delete 3-year old characters... A-Net, i've already payed my fair share for your game. All 3 chapters + EOTN, 2 pre-orders, 1 collectors addition, and a few character slots. I'm sure i'm not alone in thinking that paying for a name change on multiple characters is rediculous.
A name-changing system can be employed successfully and sanely without requiring more money from your end-user. (of course all coorps want is money..) Similiar to how the zaishen register your account name every 30 days, allow each character to change their name ONCE for however long of a time limit you see fit! You could even add a "formerly known as" title.

This has been going on since 2005, and is one thing i would really like to se implemented. Since they havent really been adding new content to GW it would be nice if they finally got around to implementing something like this.

ive wanted this change ever since my ranger hit her 1st birthday. At this moment in time, shes now 4 months away from her 3rd. And thats the reason why I dont just delete and start over..along with the armors and weapons and skills that I have bought for her...Im sure Im not the only one thinking this as well.
I for one am all for being able to change our names. Weather its a 1 time deal per charicter or a random thing we can do when ever we feel like it, either way suits me fine.

My main character that I play now was created two years ago when I first started playing Guild Wars. I didn't even know what the game was like then.

And yea put a price to it to prevent scammers and to prevent people from changing names too readily.

Hi,
Thank you for contacting the Guild Wars Support Team.

I recently mailed in to change the name of my warrior, and was disappointed when greeted with this automated response. I have had friends that have banned themselves to change charactor names. Which is EXACTLY what I want to do now, but my charactor's name isn't offensive.
Right now, I just wish that I had made my warrior named something like: 'MAH HAMMUR PENETRATES U'

My male ritu is called Ammit.
Ammit is an Egyptian chick.
Heh, what are you going to do.
Anyway, it would be a nice feature - but I can live perfectly fine without it.
If there is ever a "one thing you'd like to have" - character modifications will ALWAYS come after additions like all-hero-parties.

I'd like to see the option to change your name as well.
3 years ago I made my "Mox Mad" character, but made it in a rush because a friend was waiting to play with me in Pre-searing.. So I played, got up to lions arch, then stopped playing for about a year.. when I came back and seen his name, I was like.. god what was I thinking?
Please give us the option A-net!

in my opinion i made my char when i didnt know how big the game really was or how involved i was going to get, changing my char name would aslo set me up for GW2 as i dont want to start another game with the same name but would like to save my achievements.
also i think anet should charge for this service say £4.99, i mean if your genuine about changing the name it wouldnt be too much to pay a small fee, this would be greatly welcomed by the community and im sure would also give anet a little extra revinue for GW2 development
you dont have to stop there you could also add support for changing your chars looks or hair and charge for that too!! say £3.99 per change.
SUPERB IDEA
